Officers responded to the crash near the intersection of North 31st and Winchester avenues at around 4:51 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, the Longport Police Department said in a news release. Police found an SUV overturned in the intersection of Winchester and North Evergreen avenues.
Investigators said a Mercedes-Benz was at a stop sign on North Evergreen Avenue and moved forward to see down Winchester Avenue. A BMW SUV heading east toward Margate struck the Mercedes before hitting a parked vehicle and overturned.
The woman driving the SUV and a man who was a passenger were rushed to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Atlantic City Campus. Police said their conditions were unknown as of press time.
No injuries were reported in the Mercedes or the parked vehicle.
"At this time, we want to remind all drivers to exercise caution and follow traffic laws when approaching intersections and stop signs," Longport police said. "It is important to always yield the right of way and proceed with care to prevent accidents like this from occurring. Please remember to drive responsibly and make safety a top priority every time you get behind the wheel."
